Hey man, just to add to the points, I’ve done my conventional CPL from the US and now back in india converting my license. Through this process I learnt one thing, it’s all a waiting game. Initially I got so frustrated and depressed knowing that an opportunity at the airlines will be not immediate. Once I accepted this, like the first comment mentioned, I started revising and learning to gain the most knowledge about CPL subjects. Maintain health and fitness, be current with aviation news and affairs, and never stop preparing. Some of my seniors who are now FO’s in air india had to wait for 2 years due COVID, but they held on and completed their ATPL exams in the meantime, and made the best out of their time. I hope you see the pattern here 

Ultimately airlines want knowledgeable and current pilots who are also healthy. It is a profession that demands this delayed gratification which is why not everyone is a pilot. If it were that easy, everyone would sign up. I hope this gives you a more positive outlook towards training and getting a seat in that dream cockpit of yours!

Undoubtedly, cadet program is the best way to get into an airline. I recently spoke to someone who conducts type rating for airbus, and is an ex pilot and he told me that airlines are open to 25% conventional pilots and 75% through their cadet program. 

As you've already taken the conventional path, there will be seasonal openings in the airlines. If you've chosen this career, you should know that it is all a waiting game. Nothing happens overnight or in a stretch of few days. From our medicals, to computer number, everything takes time. 

During this time, try to groom yourself better as interviewers are going to critique you harder than those through the cadet program. You can also try to train people for DGCA ground classes, or become an instructor in the same FTO (best option). A friend of mine did the same. He completed his CPL in Raleigh and worked as a trainer there while waiting for opportunities here. This way he also banked good flying hours. There are so many people who are looking for counsellors who have first hand experience at a flying school as a student pilot. You can look into counselling too.

Have courage, it's not easy, but you will definitely get there.

For you OP and those follwing. The airline industry in India is moving towards the American system. They will prefer pilots who have prior experience and that's what is going on in the market today (18/7/24). In the last few months - fly Dubai , Emirates and most recently ethihad opened up which means that a lot of highly experienced pilots are moving about. Along with this quite a few open houses were held by air India (express included) and one by IndiGo , looking for experienced pilots. A lot of the ATR pilots are moving to the Airbus in IndiGo as part of their internal policies. Akasa has stopped hiring for now since they do not have deliveries happening and backlog for traning . Everywhere I have mentioned experienced pilots, for Indian carriers, that means everyone with over 1000 hours of experience in any aircraft. Obviously those with an Airbus or Boeing rating stand first in line. But all those guys from the corporate world flying the smaller jets stand right behind. Not only them but also people flying smaller planes like beachcrafts and caravans and all the instructors too are in that line. All of them stand a very good chance of getting into the airline industry only because they have flying experience, and that's the point I want to make to you and everyone else - any job that gets your log book ticking and paying you for it is worth its weight in gold. All these guys moving up to the airlines will make space for exactly people like you who are fresh from CPL. I suggest exploring all the aviation fields and not just the airline industry. As your experience grows getting into an airline becomes easier. I know a few of my friends (from flight school) who went into the corporate world and now after almost a decade say they love it so much that they do not want to consider any airlines. I work for an international airline as a flight attendant and thank god for my company that we have strict rules in place in case a passenger behaves inappropriately. Indian aviation has such a pathetic approach to this where you’re expected to put up with anything just because customer is “god”
It sucks how some people have ruined the experience of flying all in all because they have no decency and manners on how to behave on flights.

Once I overheard a group of flight attendants in washroom, dreading to fly to Thailand from India. 

They despise Indian male passengers anyway, especially the middle aged ones. They are so done with the inappropriate behaviour and touching. Plus many get up on the flight drunk and create unnecessary drama. 

I have massive respect for women working in hospitality sector. I’d have lost it on the first day itself.

I aspire to be a cabin crew and i'm literally scared of this thing fr after seeeing even uncles my dad's age videotaping them especially zooming in on their boobs and ass. Also very happy to see a pilot on thjis sub. I eventually want to be a pilot but since I don't have the funds now I'll work as a crew to save up money for flight school.

Ig it's the usual entitlement and the stereotype that crew and pilots are 'promiscous and cheaters'. Since they only directly interact with crew they think it's ok to brush up against them, and even creep them out. I have also seen a post on some Indian sub long back where even women were encouraging their male friends to pass comments about crew and disturbing them in a group for fun. It was honestly very disgusting. Indian pax already has a reputation for being very rude and demanding and treating service staff like their personal maids. You can see it all on cabincrew subs where literally every nationalities complain about how rude Indian pax are.

Everywhere you go, every SM site you view, every country you visit - there's ALWAYS these horny d!cks wreaking havoc due to their out-of-control behavior. A tip I learned way back in the day that helped with the question / answer.

1st time around only look at the question and correct answer. Ignore everything else. Do that till you finish all the questions. Then when you go back to practice your mind subconsciously will go for that answer.

Divide the annexures and learn bit by bit. After one chapters (say Rules of the Air), do the questions for gaining an understanding of how the answers can be approached. 

While attempting the questions, make sure to re-read and cancel out options that doesn’t belong , thereby increasing your scoring chances.

Regulations might seem annoying at first, but over time keep revising and it’ll remain always in your head. Good luck!

This reminds me of the time I travelled through Sri lanka and the security checks there was simply walking through the scanner and a pat down.

None of the empty your bag routine just throw everything onto the conveyor belt that passes through a scanner.

This is also a country that has been through civil war and regular militancy so their checks seem quite lax at first glance. Or their scanner machines are  more advanced who knows.

In my international visits, I have gone through a security check on transfer every time. Although I agree with you that the experience going through Indian airports is pretty rough to say the least. In comparison, every other international airport experience has been pretty breezy (except Kathmandu). You experience the same security theater going through metros also in India.

Flying through India and enduring its demented airport security is the most draconian, inefficient, and ineffective process I've ever experienced, and I fly probably 100 times a year on average and have flown all over the world. These people force you to take out every single item in your personal belonging. My backpack got flagged repeatedly because of a pair of glasses. Really glad they're doing their part to prevent terrorism by examining my roll of packing labels.

Funny enough I went through the same thing at CCU and DEL. Their equipment is very dated it seems. I now appreciate what we have in the USA a lot more - tsa pre and clear, where I can breeze through airport security in less than a minute. But in India I need to take out everything, all mobile phone charger and everything. They confiscated a tape measure from me that I had to measure luggage, saying no tools are allowed. Like how am I going to do anything nefarious with a tape measure? 

Next time I’m just going to fly with my ID, nothing else.

I can't compare it to Europe but I have been almost all over the USA. In fact have been on much more flights in the USA then in India so my take might be incorrect. The number of times I had to go through security would be almost nil during a connecting flight unless I went outside the airport here in the states. So that is something that the airport experience for Local flights will have to improve throughout India and I expect that to happen soon once the Number of local travelers starts picking up.  


Regarding laptops I have been asked to remove laptop half the times and keep it inside the other times. Same with my shoes. Even with new machines here in the city I live I had both happen multiple times so I wouldn't be able to tell you why that happens but it also happens in the states. I would certainly put more voice to your problem of connecting flights needing multiple security screens. Maybe even ask the aviation minister over Twitter.

Lol, what BS is this? Each airport is responsible for security of passengers who get on the plane at the airport. You booked your flights without considering a possibility of time delay for the transfer.
